Hi folks, I lost my 'Black Ada' spade which is very sad as I dug all my good finds with it but it has long since stopped being lucky. I've tried the Draper mini-shovel that my wife uses but it put my back out due to the design being perfect for shovelling but crap for digging!
Went spade shopping today and found this folding army spade. A bargain from Harper's Bizarre in Malvern at £12.50 and I've taken the old loop off my maglite holder and put it on the spade and it hangs perfectly on my belt.
A BIG PLUS is that the blade points down - don't climb any fences or styles with a spade on your belt, especially if the blade is pointing up - I tripped once and the blade very nearly went into my rib cage - only saved by thick winter clothing......
Be warned though, I bought the second hand one NOT the new one. The new one looks the same but the bolts are half the diameter and RIVETTED in. The used ones have a very robust nut and bolt.
