Got out for two hours and came up with a few bits....
Not sure what the top left item is - obviously some sort of threaded bung, the dark band half way up is the remains of a leather washer so ????
Then an interesting thingy - copper alloy and by the state of it pretty old - several hundred years -possibly a decorative mount of some sort and I was pleased as its the first time I've found two pieces of something that match up when put together :) both pieces found within a few feet. Also with some good age, a little 'spectacle' buckle - nice.
I really liked this next button. A large livery type button with remains of gilding and with a really interesting motif - a sort of rising serpent/sea-monster (?) on the left with a figure of a man to the right holding something towards it. I'll be lucky to id it. I've found several of these all with different motifs but I've never been able to pin one down.
A tiny braces type button possibly a fly button with some writing on it I can't make out.
A George V half-pence, a 2p piece, what I think is the top from an old style safety razor, a small roll of lead, two farm tack type buttons.........and finally a large bent copper connecting rod of some sort??

It was just good to get out again. I had to stop after 2 hours though, (I have a pain problem which I'm not going to broadcast to the world but it was really playing up and also) there were huge dark clouds and rolling thunder just coming over North Hill so I packed it in but quite happy - some promising signs of age with one or two bits makes me think it's worth a regular search as there's got to be some nice coins or items on there.
Off to Lincoln this w/e for family christening which I'm actually looking forward to....... its my wife's side of the family and they're all pretty laid back and easy going. Keith (father in law) has said I can go out on to the field behind his house so I'll give that a go as I've never detected over that side of the country. Might pick up a few roman bits....
